The 2022 Gender Neutral Fashion Edit

The terms 'gender neutral' 'gender fluid' and 'unisex' are certainly nothing new but have been continuously rising in popularity over the last few years, as discussions around gender identity have garnered more attention within the mainstream media. Fashion icons such as Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Kid Cudi and Jaden Smith have all recently had notable gender-neutral moments that have helped challenge gender norms and the discussion surrounding genderless fashion.

It also seems 2020's pandemic has accelerated its growth, with Gen Z and Zillenials (the micro-cohort between Gen Z and Millenials) spearheading this on social media - the hashtag #genderfluidfashion has amassed 5.7million on TikTok! According to Lyst (global shopping platform), searches for fashion pieces including agender keywords have increased in volume by more than 33% since the start of 2021! Harry Styles's iconic Vogue 2020 cover also got everyone talking, quoting 'Clothes are there to have fun with, experiment with and play with'.
